Instructional Coaching

The Midwest Regional ESC offers instructional coaching to districts to assist administrators and schools in addressing the needs of their instructional staff.  The instructional coaching service is tiered based on the level of the coaching necessary to meet the district’s goals.

 

Level 1 – Basic Instructional Coaching

 

Level 1 coaching is designed to assist teachers who need assistance in modifying their instructional delivery.  Level 1 coaching includes up to six (6) coaching sessions (face-to-face, virtual, or a combination thereof).

  • Coaching sessions will focus upon 2-3 of the following elements:
    • Instructional strategies (Differentiation for all students, small group instruction, etc)
    • Instructional resources
    • Classroom management
    • Formative assessment
  • Provide classroom two (2) observations of teacher to provide specific feedback of coaching focus.

 

Level 2 – Intermediate Instructional Coaching

 

Level 2 coaching provides similar support to Level 1 coaching and includes additional elements, as well as additional coaching and observation sessions.  Level 2 coaching includes up to ten (10) coaching sessions (face-to-face, virtual, or a combination thereof).

  • Coaching sessions will focus upon 3-4 of the following elements:
    • Instructional strategies (Differentiation for all students, small group instruction, etc.)
    • Instructional resources
    • Classroom management
    • Formative assessment
  • Provide classroom four (4) observations of teacher to provide focused feedback of coaching focus.

 

Level 3 – Intensive Instructional Coaching

 

Level 3 coaching provides the highest level of coaching support.  This coaching service includes a comprehensive plan that provides ongoing support to assist teachers in implementing a new practice, instructional resource or technique.    Level 3 coaching includes the following:

  • Development of a targeted coaching plan created collaboratively by teacher, administrator and coach to address up to 2 specific goals of improvement.
  • Provide up to twenty (20) coaching sessions (face-to-face, virtual, or a combination thereof) to support the attainment of the coaching plan goals.
  • Document and track the progress of the targeted goals throughout the year.
  • Provide classroom observations (6) of teacher to provide focused feedback of coaching plan goals.

 

We can also provide coaching in the following areas with customized building or district plans:

  • Content area coaching
  • Data coaching (directly related to improving state assessment scores, student success, etc.)
  • Mentoring/Coaching new teachers
  • Instructional Coaching Certification for District Staff
